Looking for Happiness: Hope in the Christian Life – Jan. 16, 2014

Even in times of moral confusion and spiritual poverty, the heart’s yearning for happiness does not diminish. This conference will consider the crucial role of the theological virtue of hope if Christian men and women are to attain the great desire for peace and happiness in life.

Gabriel O’Donnell, O.P., is a Professor of Theology and Dean Emeritus at the Pontifical Faculty of the Immaculate Conception, Washington, D.C.

Fr. O’Donnell entered the eastern Province of St. Joseph of the Dominican Order in 1962 and was ordained a priest in 1970. He received his STB from the Dominican House of Studies and the STL from the Angelicum in Rome. He has an MA in Liturgical Studies from the University of Notre Dame and completed the STD in Spiritual Theology at the Teresianum, Rome, in 1980.

He has taught at the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, St. Charles Seminary in Philadelphia and the Angelicum in Rome. He served as a spiritual director for the North American College in Rome from 2000 to 2003.

Throughout his priesthood he has offered retreats, conferences and workshops in many parishes, religious communities and dioceses in various parts of the world.

PROGRAM

NEW THIS YEAR!   Lectures will be held across the street from IPS at the Hampton Inn (2000 Jefferson Davis Hwy., Arlington, VA  22202) in the Dogwood Room located on the first floor. A sign in the lobby will direct you.

Complimentary parking for guests is located behind the hotel. To access the garage, turn on20th Street South and travel one block to S. Eads Street then turn left.  Entrance to parking garage is on the left.  To reach the lobby, walk out of the garage and around the corner to the front of the building.

 Each lecture begins at 5:00 p.m. followed by a 15-minute Q&A session. Afterwards, guests are invited to attend a complimentary wine and cheese reception at 6:15 p.m. on the first floor of the IPS campus (2001 Jefferson Davis Hwy., Arlington, VA, 22202).

Walking directions from the Hampton Inn to IPS: walk across at the light on 20th Street South and Jefferson Davis Hwy. Turn right and walk one block to 2001 Jefferson Davis Hwy.
