Dr. Sweeney is the founder and Academic Dean of the Institute for the Psychological Sciences in Arlington, Virginia. She obtained her Psychologist Degree from Universidad Catolica de Chile, her M.Ed. and Ph.D. from The Pennsylvania State University. She has held a faculty appointment at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Division of Child Psychiatry, Department of Pediatrics. She has also lectured at the North American College and at the Pontifical University Regina Apostolorum in Rome. She served as the Executive Director of the Catholic Institute for the Psychological Sciences from 1997-1998.
Dr. Sweeney's current research interest is the integration of the psychological sciences with the Catholic view of the human person.
