MS-PLUS” PRACTICA OPTIONStudents completing the M.S. degree program in Clinical Psychology not completing doctoral studies may participate in the “MS-plus” option of this degree program. This option, which necessitates a third year of study, includes a nine-month long supervised clinical practicum/externship (600 hours) and additional coursework centering on the application of an integrated Catholic approach to clinical practice.
Students currently enrolled in the MS program must apply for the practica, and will be granted admission based on graduation from the MS program and achievement of satisfactory clinical skills. Past graduates will, in addition, require a telephone interview to assess their suitability for entering the program.
CLASSES INCLUDE:PSY 601: Integrative Case Consultation I (3 credit hours) – Students attend and present at regularly scheduled case consultation groups which are faculty-led and focus on skill development in the areas of diagnosis, treatment planning, clinical skills, and providing services from an integrated perspective.
PSY 602: Integrative Case Consultation II (3 credit hours) – Students attend and present at regularly scheduled case consultation groups which are faculty-led and focus on skill development in the areas of diagnosis, treatment planning, clinical skills, and providing services from an integrated perspective.
PSY 691: Clinical Practicum Internship I (3 credit hours) – A 300-hour Clinical Practicum/Externship will be implemented by the student at a local clinical site (chosen in consultation with the director of the MS program), to engage in enhancing both counseling and assessment skills. The student will be supervised by a psychologist or other licensed mental-health professional on-site as well as participate in on-going integrative case consultations on the IPS campus.
PSY 692: Clinical Practicum Internship II (3 credit hours) – A 300-hour Clinical Practicum/Externship will be implemented by the student, with a local clinical site, in discussion with the director of the MS program, to engage in enhancing both counseling and assessment skills. The student will be supervised by a psychologist or other licensed mental-health professional on-site as well as participate in on-going integrative case consultations on the IPS campus. (Must have completed PSY 691)
