Drug Free EnvironmentIt is the policy of the Institute for the Psychological Sciences (Institute) that the unlawful possession, use, manufacturing, or distribution of illicit drugs and alcohol by students, employees, and volunteers, on the Institute property or as part of any of the Institute's activities is clearly prohibited. It is also the policy of the Institute to cooperate fully with federal, state, and local authorities in the enforcement of this policy.
STANDARDS OF CONDUCTAs a condition of initial and continued enrollment and employment, each student and employee is required to abide by the Institute's 'Prevention of the Use and Abuse of Drug and Alcohol Policy." Any student or employee who violates this policy or who is convicted of a criminal drug statute or alcohol offense while on the Institute's property or while participating in any part Institute activities are required to notify the Dean of Students in writing within five (5) days of such violation or conviction for a criminal drug statute.
The Institute will impose sanctions on any student, employee, or volunteer who violates or fails to comply with any provision of this policy consistent with local, State and Federal law, that may include (1) the required completion of an appropriate rehabilitation program; (2) suspension, expulsion, termination of employment, and (3) referral for prosecution by appropriate law enforcement authorities for any violation of federal, state, or local law.
DISTRIBUTION OF PROGRAMThe Institute publishes the Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Program annually in the Student Handbook and Employee Handbook. It is also available on the Institute's website.
This policy is effective Jul. 1, 2004, and implements the Drug Free Workplace Act (41 U.S.C. 701) and the Drug Free Schools and Communities Act (20 U.S.C. 1145g).
