IPS Psychology Clinic

Quick Facts:
  • The clinic location in Arlington / Crystal City is now a dedicated center for clinical training and education, connected directly with the Institute for the Psychological Sciences, a graduate school in clinical psychology.
  • The clinic is staffed by doctoral externs who have already completed their master’s degrees, and are furthering their training through advanced studies.
  • The IPS clinic functions as a ‘campus clinic’, but because there is not an undergraduate student population, we offer services to the broader community.
  • Because we are a non-profit training clinic, we charge only an administrative fee.  The initial intake costs $60, and subsequent therapy sessions cost $40 per hour.
The fee for psychological evaluation and testing will be determined based upon the type of evaluation, but typically can be expected to range from $150 - $400, which is all inclusive, of interview meetings, testing sessions, reports, and feedback sessions.

  • All the work carried out by our externs is supervised by experienced, licensed clinical psychologists who are on the faculty of the Institute.

One of the ways that the IPS Psychology Clinic seeks to provide the best possible care is through individual and group supervision and consultation on all of the work that we do. Because the doctoral externs are unlicensed, they are required by law to work under supervision.  This consultation is even more effective if the clinician is able to listen to his or her sessions and play portions of a session for a supervisor. For this reason, we ask that you give your consent to recording your sessions. This may not occur at every session, and sessions are routinely recorded over so that there will not be a permanent record.
