Library Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC)

The IPS Thelen Library online public access catalog or OPAC is a state-of- the-art integrated library management system (ILMS).   The Library prepared to “go live” with the new ILMS in November 2003, which in addition to providing the OPAC, automates many other Library operations – including circulation, reserves, change of address, order requests, renewal of materials, and overdue notices.

The OPAC provides the bibliographic records (and for some records links to additional information or the full text) of the collections and resources of the IPS Thelen Library.  It also provides a “Knowledge Portal” to the Library’s online database, ejournal, and ebook subscriptions and to selected psychology, theology, philosophy, and general resources available through the Internet.  It is truly your access portal to the literature of the world.

From the IPS Thelen Library workstations, you can search for books, journals, videos, or other materials available in the collections and find their status – if an item is checked out or is available for circulation; or if a journal in the collection is available full text, online.   As a registered library user, your user identification number (or User ID) and personal identification number or PIN (or a login that will be made available) will authorize you to access  the IPS Thelen Library’s online databases remotely (from home, office, etc.) via the Internet.

You may also use the OPAC to request reference services, suggest a title to be ordered, get a list of materials on reserve, make an Interlibrary Loan request, get a list of new titles added to the collection, or to link to other libraries.

Library classes and individual instruction on the use of the OPAC are offered during the Fall and Spring Semesters.
