A Professor of Medicine and Medical Ethics, Dr. Pellegrino has taught at several schools, including Georgetown University and Medical School, Yale University School of Medicine, and The Catholic University of America, where he also served as President from 1978-1982. He currently serves on the Pontifical Academy for Life, the National Academy of Sciences Committee to Review Human Subjects, and is on the Board of Trustees, New York Medical College. A prolific scholar, presenter, editor, and author, Dr. Pellegrino's books include Humanism and the Physician; A Philosophical Basis of Medical Practice: Toward a Philosophy and Ethic of the Healing Professions; For the Patient's Good: The Restoration of Beneficence in Health Care; Catholic Perspectives on Medical Morals; Ethics, Trust, and the Professions: Philosophical and Cultural Aspects; The Virtues in Medical Practice; and Dignity and Dying: A Christian Appraisal.
