Based on the mission and vision of the Institute, Student Services facilitates numerous opportunities for IPS students to grow in their faith formation. Included among these opportunities are daily Mass, weekly Eucharistic Adoration, occasional retreats and evenings of reflection. These activities provide the students, staff and faculty of IPS with a valuable experience of shared worship. A schedule of dates and times for all activities is posted on the Student Services Bulletin Board on a regular basis.
In addition, spiritual direction and the sacrament of reconciliation with the Institute’s Chaplain are available to students. Individual appointments may be scheduled by contacting the Coordinator of Student Services Nancy Flynn at nflynn@ipsciences.edu or call (703)416-1441 ext. 127.
Other religious activities and programs for students held during the year include the following:
Student Retreat: As students look forward to beginning a new semester of classes, they are invited to come and prepare their hearts and minds with a day of silent retreat. A Retreat Master offers directed meditations and the opportunity for prayer, confession, and the sharing of a meal with fellow students at the beginning of the new school year. The day ends with the celebration of Mass.
Advent Evening of Reflection: IPS’s Chaplain offers an evening of recollection for our students that can help to sharpen their awareness of the true meaning of Advent and bring a reflective calm into what is very often a hectic season.
Lenten Evening of Reflection: The students of IPS are given the opportunity to participate in a Lenten evening of reflection to gather their thoughts and reconnect before the joyful season of Easter arrives.
Pilgrimage with the President: The students of IPS and the IPS President go on pilgrimage to one of the many religious sites located in the Metropolitan area. It is a time to appreciate the historical traditions of our faith by visiting and learning about the sacrifices made by those who have come before us.
