Founder and Academic Dean of the Institute. She is a Visiting Professor of Psychology at the Regina Apostolorum Pontifical University in Rome and a Member of the Scientific Committee of the Master of Psychology Program at the same university.

She has lectured at the North American College in Rome and has been a faculty member of the Division of Child Psychiatry, Department of Pediatrics, at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

She served as the Executive Director of the Catholic Institute for the Psychological Sciences from 1997 to 1998. Dr. Sweeney has approximately 25 years of clinical experience in the field of child and adolescent development. She is published and presents on topics related to the integration of psychology and the Catholic faith.
