Working together to build a culture of life: IPS Admissions Director visits Priests for Life and Fr. Frank Pavone

On August 3, 2011, at the invitation of Fr. Frank Pavone, I had the grace to visit the Priests for Life headquarters in Staten Island, NY. We’ve been fortunate to count Fr. Pavone among our supporters for quite some time, and he toured our campus in January when he was in Washington for the March for Life. While he was here we began discussing ways we could collaborate to spread the word about IPS, and he invited me to New York.

It was quite inspiring to see Fr. Pavone’s operation and his committed team who give of their time and talents to save lives. While I was there he arranged for me to be on Teresa Tomeo’s live radio broadcast, Catholic Connection, and we taped a show for EWTN (broadcast date TBA).

In these interviews, we covered the ways in which IPS is contributing to the culture of life by training our students in the science of psychology based on the Catholic understanding of the nature and dignity of the person.

On the one hand, we’re forming our students to help individuals, marriages, and families become healthier and stronger, hopefully leading to a reduction in the number of abortions.

On the other hand, many of our students and graduates are involved with Rachel’s Vineyard, Project Gabriel and other pro-life organizations, reaching out to people suffering from the effects of abortion as they try and put the pieces of their lives back together.

I am truly grateful to Fr. Pavone and his team for an awesome day. Stay tuned to find out when the interview will air on EWTN!
